KENP / Kindle Unlimited Calculator
Kindle Unlimited pays per page read (KENP). Estimate your book’s KENPC from word count, then project earnings per full read-through and per month. The per-page rate changes monthly — edit it to the latest figure.
KENPC ≈ word count ÷ 187 (Amazon’s normalized count varies with formatting; your real KENPC is on your book’s KDP page).
How to estimate Kindle Unlimited (KENP) earnings
Frequently Asked Questions
KENP is Kindle Edition Normalized Page Count — a standardized page measure Amazon assigns to every KU book. You earn the monthly per-page rate for every KENP page a subscriber reads, funded from the KDP Select Global Fund.
The rate changes monthly and by marketplace; in recent years the US rate has hovered between $0.004 and $0.005 per page. A complete read of an 80,000-word novel (~428 KENPC) earns roughly $1.70-$2.15.
A useful rule of thumb is KENPC = word count / 187. Your official KENPC is shown on your book's KDP Promote and Advertise page and varies with formatting, images and front matter.
KU pays less per full read than a $2.99 sale ($1.70-2.15 vs ~$2.05), but borrows are lower-friction than purchases and page reads also move your sales rank. Wide distribution vs KU exclusivity is the real trade-off, since KDP Select requires ebook exclusivity.
